Dear PNAE members and colleagues across Europe, an interesting survey about this important topic was recently published on Nursing in Critical Care
The survey was the result of a great collaboration among European Society for Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC) Resuscitation Section and PNAE Study group.
A total of 185 questionnaires from 21 European countries were received. Over half (n = 120, 65%) reported that their hospital uses a Paediatric Early Warning System (PEWS) and 75 (41%) reported having a Rapid Response Team (RRT). European regional significance differences existed in PEWS utilization.
The next aim could be a consensus statement endorsed by paediatric and intensive care societies, in order to reduce variance in practice and provide guidance and resources to support PEWS implementation across Europe.
The manuscript is available on the Journal website
We thank the PNAE members who collaborated to publicize the survey across Europe.
Last but not least! We thank Orsola Gawronski, PNAE member from Italy and past Nursing President of ESPNIC, for this positive connection among ESPNIC and PNAE.
