The 44th PNAE meeting was held in Istanbul, Turkey, on the 17th and 18th of October, 2024. The PNAE members gathered in person at the School of Nursing at Koç University. They also visited the pediatric and neonatal units of the Koç University Hospital, including the neonatal intensive care unit. Koç University Hospital is a Baby Friendly Hospital.
Jane Coad, the PNAE coordinator, opened the meeting. The chief nurses from Koç University School of Nursing presented their Bachelor of Nursing Education program and an update on pediatric nursing in Turkey. Additionally, the Semahat Arsel Nursing Education, Practice, and Research Center (SANERC) was introduced. SANERC was founded by Semahat Arsel, who said, “My biggest wish is for nurses, who I believe hold a significant place in the field of healthcare, to provide our people with the care they deserve at the highest level.”
The PNAE members thanked Jean Davies, who has been PNAE Secretary until 2024. She has been a great and precious support at PNAE activities, a relevant PNAE members and a passionate colleague. Since the beginning of 2024 the new PNAE Secretary is Katrin De Winter from Belgium.

Jane Coad presented the new elected PNAE Co-ordinator Immacolata Dall’Oglio from Italy.
The colleagues from France updated the PNAE members about the 7th PNAE Congress in 2026. The 7th PNAE Congress will be on 11th-12th June 2026 in Paris.
During the meeting, the process of reviewing the PNAE documents was initiated. The PNAE members worked in small groups to determine which documents needed to be reviewed and how.
