International Nurses Day 2026 – Today 12th May!
The theme proposed by the International Council of Nurses (ICN) for the International Nurse Day 2026 is — “ Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives” — Every day, nurses both save and improve lives, and their impact is greatest when they are properly empowered. The nurses have an essential role around the world in every healthcare system.
Today, as PNAE, we celebrate all the nurses caring for newborns, children, young people, and their families across Europe. Empowering paediatric nurses and nurses working in any paediatric settings, means taking care, educating and empowering children, young people and their families. Empowering paediatric nurses means improve the health outcomes of new generations, the collective future of all us in more sustenaible healthcare systems.
The development of paediatric nursing roles, competencies, and leadership is essential to support international health system transfromation and the adoption of innovative models of child- and family-centred care. Paediatric nurses play a key role in improving quality, access, safety, effectiveness, user experience, and population health outcomes across diverse healthcare settings.
The protection of healthcare professionals who care for newborns, children, young people and families, remains a big priority in this struggle time around the world.
Caring and protection for nurses means caring for the people they serve every day, across diverse settings.
Happy International Nurses Day 2026 to all of you!
