The members of the Paediatric Associations of Europe (PNAE) would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and admiration for the unprecedented effort being made by all healthcare staff, and support teams, to address the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
PNAE are aware that many colleagues and members of their families will have personally experienced COVID-19 disease. We send our sincere condolences to colleagues and friends who have sadly suffered the loss of family members, friends and colleagues.
We did not expect to be faced with such a catastrophic situation and many patients, colleagues and friends owe their lives to the dedication of the courageous health teams who risk their own safety to help and care for others. The humanity and compassion shown to those affected by COVID-19 is overwhelming and truly appreciated by PNAE.
PNAE members value the great contribution each organisation is making to enable the pandemic to be successfully managed. Many PNAE members have contributed to the development of essential policies and guidelines to support the monumental effort required in providing care.
